Micro-Review #19: Borat: Touristic Guidings to Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan & Touristic Guidings to Minor Nation of U.S. and A.

by Borat Sagdiyev

In honor of last week’s Amazon Prime release of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, we present the literary accompaniment to the first Borat flick from back in 2006. This book is a bathroom read of the highest order, with outrageous stereotypes, X-rated gags and a sometimes-insightful zest for cultural insults. Within the craziness is some intelligently stupid humor, and beneath the repetitive loudness, the language is actually an impressive bit of linguistic imitation. This of course isn’t for everyone, but for readers who like their funny stuff baked at two-zillion degrees, I have to say, “Is nice!” Reviewed on Oct. 29, 2020
